Malawi

We have been actively funding community projects in Malawi since 2007.  Our first project was the Lilongwe District Goat project that is targetting smallholder farmers from Nsundwe and Nkhoma areas. 

In 2009 we funded two projects.  The first was the Village Egg Model, a revolving poultry scheme near to Lilongwe that is based on a successful model implemented in Bangladesh.  This project has received additional funding in 2010 to help expand the pilot phase and expand the number of beneficiaries. The second project funded the purchase and manufacture of solar drying cabinets for a forest enterprise development project in Chikwawa District.

In 2010 we funded a second project in Chikwawa District that will provide appropriate solar energy technology in the form of photovoltaic solar panels to members of the Chikwawa Cotton Growers Association in collaboration with Seeds of Opportunity, a Malawian NGO.
